About Us ...

The Homestead Historical Society was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1980 when Homestead, PA was celebrating its Centennial.  This historical society lay dormant until the year 2001 when the Mifflin Township Historical Society was being formed.  Since the two societies have the same "goals" they joined forces.

Mission Statement
The goal of our Society will be to document, chronicle and preserve, whenever possible, the artifacts and sites of historical significance from the original Mifflin Township of 1788. The present day communities of Baldwin (part), Clairton, Duquesne, Dravosburg,  Hays, Homestead, Jefferson Hills, Lincoln Place, Munhall, Pleasant Hills,  West Elizabeth, West Homestead, West Mifflin & Whitaker are in this area.

We openly invite all members of the communities above and anyone else interested in the history of those communities to join the Society as active volunteers to accomplish this goal of preserving our heritage for future generations.
