This site will attempt to bring you the history of the Borough of Homestead, PA.  Everything presented here is not a scholarly work but a compendium of known history articles and pictures of our Borough.

Homestead, PA was originally part of Mifflin Township in Allegheny County, PA.  Mifflin Township came into being December 16, 1788.  The seven original townships of Allegheny County were Elizabeth, Mifflin, Moon, Pitt, Plum, St. Clair and Versailles.

Homestead, PA can be considered as the "eldest child" community with Munhall and West Homestead, PA being incorporated in 1901.  It is advisable to visit the Munhall history site also for further study with regard to the property of the original Carnegie Steel Company's Homestead Works.
