April 2016 Monthly Meeting

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Historian John L. Ford will be our guest speaker at the April 2016 meeting Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m.

John is a native of Pittsburgh with family roots in Charlottesville, VA. He believes in strong family ties and proclaims firmly that knowledge equals courage, dignity, and vision. John is retired from the Heinz History Center and now is a part of the education team for the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum.

John is an expert in African and African-American history and culture and is an avid collector of related artifacts, some dating back to 2,500 BCE. He is the recipient of many local, national, and international awards. He is frequently asked to speak on radio and television to address all aspects of African and African-American history.
